Create Like an Artist

Six workshops, each one about a famous artist and led by an Alexandria Art Guild artist.

Have fun learning - learn about Art History, about a different medium, and just have fun creating!
Workshops based on historic artists, lead by accomplished local artists.

Participants will learn about these famous artists and their work. The AAG instructor will share some examples of their own work. An introduction to materials (provided by AAG) and a demo of techniques will then be shared before participants dive in to create their own art piece in the style of the artist to be studied.

Create Like Henry Moore

  • March 7, 9:30am - 3:30pm

    Clay Sculpture with Mary Williams.

Anyone who went to art school and took a sculpture class has been introduced to Henry Moore, a sculptor in England who was obsessed with the reclining female figure.  As an art student Mary was enthralled with his work and has been influenced by his art throughout her art career.

This is a slightly longer and more involved workshop. In addition to more time with the artist, your class fees include 25 pounds of clay to work with, and firing by Mary in her studio. Your art will then be returned to the gallery for pickup when finished.
