Meet Linda Gaugert, September Artist of the Month

Alexandria Art Guild will recognize longtime local artist and Guild founding member Linda Gaugert as its Artist of the Month for September.

Linda’s life as an artist began at age 15, when her mother brought home oil paints, brushes and canvas paper. Although college, a career as a physical therapist and raising a family often left little time for painting, her interest in art never disappeared. She continued learning through classes, observation and years of practice.

Eventually, Gaugert opened Three Havens Artworks Gallery and Studio and began selling her work and accepting commissions. She has since completed more than 70 commissioned home portraits. While she has received awards and other recognition for her work, Linda says one of her greatest honors remains having someone choose to purchase and live with one of her paintings.

Her contribution to the Alexandria arts community extends well beyond her own artwork. After serving on the Lake Region Arts Council Board, Gaugert helped establish the Alexandria Art Guild in 2018. As one of its founding members, she served on the Guild’s board from its inception through 2026 and continues to support its mission of building and strengthening the area’s community of artists.

Today, after more than five decades of painting, Linda works primarily in oil and watercolor. Landscapes are a particular focus, although her subjects have ranged from still lifes and portraits to philosophical themes and even outer space. She is currently concentrating on developing her plein air skills and painting outdoors.

Linda Gaugert’s artwork will be featured at the Alexandria Art Guild throughout the month of September.
