Artist of the Month

Congratulations to our July Artist of the Month - Naomi Bjorklund

Alexandria Art Guild is pleased to feature Naomi Bjorklund as our July Artist of the Month.

A public reception will be held Friday, July 10, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Alexandria Art Guild Visual Arts Center, 612 Broadway in downtown Alexandria. The public is invited to meet the artist, enjoy light refreshments, and view a special exhibition of her work.

Noni Bjorklund discovered painting in 2007 during a difficult period in her life. Encouraged by a friend to pick up a paintbrush for the first time, she quickly discovered a passion that would become both a creative outlet and a lifelong pursuit. She studied with respected regional artists, including June Young, Calvin deRuyter, Karen Knutsen, Rose Eden, Bonita Roberts, and Myron Sahlberg, developing a body of work that has earned recognition in local exhibitions.

While portraiture remains one of her greatest artistic loves, Bjorklund also creates jewelry using enameling and metalsmithing techniques, bringing the same appreciation for color and craftsmanship to wearable art. Throughout her work, she seeks to celebrate beauty, reflect her faith, and share the joy she finds in the creative process.

Bjorklund has also played a pivotal role in Alexandria's visual arts community. In 2018, she and fellow artist Linda Gaugert co-founded the Alexandria Art Guild with the vision of bringing artists together in a collaborative, encouraging environment. That vision has grown into a thriving organization that now includes Art deTour, the Holiday Art & Crafters Tour, and the Alexandria Art Guild Visual Arts Center, creating new opportunities for artists and enriching the cultural life of the community.

The public is encouraged to stop by throughout July to enjoy Bjorklund's featured exhibition and learn more about the Alexandria Art Guild and its member artists.
