Artist of the Month

April Artist of the Month:
Melissa Werpy

Melissa Werpy’s artistic journey is shaped by both early encouragement and a lifetime of creative exploration. Influenced by her father’s natural artistic ability and inspired by a formative high school teacher, she pursued a range of mediums—from painting and textiles to a successful career creating murals and decorative finishes. Years spent living in Europe, particularly in Brussels and Paris, deepened her connection to art history and expanded her technical approach.

Today, working from her studio on Lake Miltona, Melissa focuses on clay, a medium that brings together her background in design, color, and craftsmanship. Her ceramic work is known for its vibrant surface, expressive form, and functional beauty—often inspired by her love of gardening and the surrounding landscape. As a member of the Alexandria Art Guild, she continues to share her work and contribute to the region’s growing arts community.
