Kristen Roers is a Minnesota artist working primarily in encaustic, soft pastel, and oil. Inspired by the natural world, her work explores landscape, plants, animals, and other subjects through expressive color, texture, and painterly mark-making. Each medium offers a different way to respond to her subject—from the luminous layers and tactile surfaces of encaustic to the immediacy of pastel and the richness of oil.

Curiosity and experimentation are an important part of Kristen’s creative practice. She enjoys exploring new materials and techniques while allowing the character of each medium to influence the finished work. Across her varied body of work, a love of color and an attentive observation of the world around her provide a consistent thread.
