Jackie Henning

For me, finding joy and revealing the life of ordinary natural elements through paint and other media has become a journey of slowing down—of really seeing. It’s about translating the subtle beauty I encounter into expressive, personal forms.

When I paint, draw, or work in mixed media, I’m not just replicating what I see. I’m engaging with it emotionally. There’s a quiet satisfaction in honoring what’s often overlooked, in discovering beauty that never asks to be noticed but offers itself so generously, if I’m paying attention.

Creating art from nature has become a meditative practice for me. It asks for stillness, for patience, for my presence. The more time I spend with a leaf, a feather, a weed, the more it reveals. And when I begin to translate that into art, I’m not just creating something beautiful, I’m recording a moment of connection.
